6th – 8th April 2013 Weekend English Premier League Predictions with Correct Scores Updated for December 2024
Updated: 8th December 2024
The Premier League weekend is all set to be a cracker with important points to play for in terms of the Champions League places and the fight to stay in the league.
So, let's take a look at which sides are locking horns in this round of fixtures.
Reading v Southampton – Saturday 12.45pm
New Reading manager Nigel Adkins goes up against his former club in only his second game in charge of the Royals and it is safe to say this is a must win for the home side.
They currently sit seven points adrift of safety and have lost their last six Premier League matches, so come into this one desperate for a result.
Southampton have moved four points clear of the bottom three after wins at home to Liverpool and Chelsea, so their confidence should be sky high.
Prediction – Draw the bet with the best odds of 13/5 .
Correct score – Reading 2-2 Southampton with odds of 14/1.
Norwich City v Swansea City – Saturday 3pm
Norwich will be hoping that Swansea City are already thinking about their summer holidays in this clash as the Canaries have moved into relegation trouble after just one win in 14 top flight matches.
They are still four clear of the bottom three and a win here could all but secure safety, but fans at Carrow Road might be nervous coming into this one.
As for the Swans, it is all about finishing the season as high as possible.
Prediction – Home – 17/10 the odds best priced
Correct score – Norwich 2-1 Swansea – 10/1 the best price with Betfair on this scoreline.
Stoke City v Aston Villa – Saturday 3pm
This is another massive battle at the bottom of the table as Stoke are level on points with Norwich and Southampton and not in any form whatsoever, whereas Villa occupy a space in the drop zone.
Two wins in three matches hasn't lifted the Villains out of trouble and Paul Lambert needs his men to give everything in this one as his young squad are sure to be tested physically.
Stoke have won just once this year, so know they can still be sucked into the relegation battle.
Prediction – Home win at 23/20
Correct score – Stoke 2-0 Aston Villa you can get 21/2 best price on this outcome.
West Bromwich Albion v Arsenal – Saturday 3pm
This game takes us away from the bottom three and into the top half of the table.
Arsenal can move into the top four with a victory as Chelsea don't play until Sunday and after five wins in their last six matches, the Gunners come here full of confidence.
The Baggies are in eighth position and on 44 points, so they don't have a great deal to play for, but Steve Clarke won't allow any complacency from his side.
Prediction – Away the bet at 1/1
Correct score – WBA 1-3 Arsenal
Liverpool v West Ham United – Sunday 1.30pm
Liverpool won 2-1 at Aston Villa last time out, but they have a job on their hands to finish in the top five and land a Europa League spot.
What Brendan Rodgers will want in the final seven games is a bit of consistency, so a win against the Hammers is needed.
Sam Allardyce's men are just four away from the 40-point mark and come here looking for a result to take another step towards survival.
Prediction – Home
Correct score – Liverpool 4-0 West Ham – this pays out at odds of 17/1 best priced.
Tottenham Hotspur v Everton – Sunday 2.05pm
A massive game in terms of the fight for a top four finish comes from White Hart Lane on Sunday as Tottenham entertain Everton.
Spurs are sitting in third right now, but could have Arsenal just a point behind them by the time this one gets underway, whereas Everton are in sixth and four points adrift of Chelsea.
An away win would keep David Moyes' hopes of Champions League football alive, but a victory for Spurs would see them make a massive step towards Europe's elite club competition.
Prediction – Take the Draw on this one at 11/4.
Correct score – Tottenham 1-1 Everton
Chelsea v Sunderland – Sunday 3pm
As mentioned, Chelsea could be out of the top four when they take on Sunderland in what will be Paulo Di Canio's first game in charge of the Black Cats.
The Italian has a massive job on his hands as Sunderland haven't won in seven and are just a point clear of the drop zone.
With how much Chelsea need a win here though, it is going to be tough for the visitors to get anything.
Prediction – Home win pays best at 1/3
Correct score – Chelsea 1-0 Sunderland – this is 11/2 the best odds.
Newcastle United v Fulham – Sunday 3pm
Newcastle have lost their last two league matches and are only three points clear of the bottom three. This weekend, they take on a Fulham side that look like finishing the season strongly once more.
Alan Pardew needs an electric atmosphere at St James' Park this weekend and with his men in Europa League action this week, he is sure to be concerned about fatigue in the squad.
Prediction – Draw pays 13/5 top odds
Correct score – Newcastle 0-0 Fulham
Queens Park Rangers v Wigan Athletic – Sunday 4.10pm
QPR are seven points adrift from safety and many believe, much like Reading, they have to win this weekend to stand any chance of staying in the Premier League.
Now we have entered April, the last team you want to be taking on is Wigan as they have a knack for winning matches at this time in the season.
The Latics have won their last two and moved out of the drop zone.
Prediction – Away is 9/4 with Betfred
Correct score – QPR 2-3 Wigan scoreline pays out an odds balls breaking 40/1, with StanJames taking the best price.
Manchester United v Manchester City – Monday 8pm
Monday evening sees these two great rivals lock horns at Old Trafford and although this game isn't going to be the title-decider that everyone was hoping for, it is sure to still be a cracker.
United are now 15 points clear of City and all but certain to lift the trophy in May. They can also do the double of their city rivals and that really would be the icing on the cake for Sir Alex Ferguson.
The Citizens will be desperate for a result to regain a bit of pride and give their fans something to cheer about.
Prediction – Draw – take the best price of 13/5
Correct score – Manchester United 1-1 Manchester City pays 13/2
