Rumors on Marco Asensio, Pogba, Costa and Gomez Updated for December 2024

Marco Asensio

Updated: 12th December 2024

A concerted bid of £67 million is in the works at Anfield for Real Madrid forward Marco Asensio, as reports suggest. Despite the 22-year old's immense talent, the Spanish international star has struggled to find unhampered playing time at the Bernabeu since he joined from Real Mallorca in 2014.

Despite this, he is a Zidane favorite and the French legend has big plans for Asensio who he believes has a key role to play in the club's progress going ahead.

Even Tottenham had evinced interest in the young Spaniard a month ago as part of a loan deal in exchange for their midfielder Christian Eriksen. But Jurgen Klopp being an admirer of Asensio, Liverpool could well keep hunt on for the Real Madrid player.

The ongoing fracas over Pogba's possible departure from Manchester United seems to have been put to rest by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who was heard addressing the media at Perth where he said the club are in no need to sell players.

Pogba and his manager Mino Raiola have been eyeing a move to Juventus or Real Madrid for some time.

But Raiola is aware of the obstacles Real face in buying Pogba. The Spanish giants have already spent close to £200 million on Eden Hazard, Ferland Mendy and Luka Jovic and will have to unload players to raise funds for the United mid-fielder.

United have already made it clear that if they are to release the Frenchman, it will not be below £160 million.

As for Real Madrid, Gareth Bale, Isco, Keylor Navas and James Rodriguez are all believed to be up for sale. Rodriguez could possibly bring in some substantial cash for Los Blancos considering that clubs like Napoli and Atletico Madrid are eyeing the 27-year old Colombian. Now that his Bayern Munich loan spell is nearing its close, clubs like Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal are beginning to show interest

Meanwhile, out at the Molineux, the hot rumour is that the Wolves are gearing up to sign ex-Chelsea and Spanish international striker, Diego Costa, from Atletico Madrid.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly agreed to personal terms with Diego Costa ahead of striking a deal with Atletico Madrid to bring the striker back to the Premier League.

Costa's agent Jorge Mendes is believed to be close with Wolves manager Nuno Espírito Santo and even the owners Fosun International. But there are sources who say there is absolutely no base to the rumours surrounding the Wolves' move for Costa and that it has been plucked out of thin air.

West Ham's pursuit of Celta Vigo’s Maxi Gomez seems to have fallen through with both clubs failing to agree to a payment structure.

The departure of Marko Arnautovic to the Chinese Super League paved the way for the 22-year old Uruguayan striker's advent to the Hammers and just when the £45 million seemed certain to happen it unfortunately crashed. Despite the clubs agreeing on the value of the deal, they could not agree on when certain portions of the fee should be paid. They even failed to come to a conclusion on other bonuses and clauses within the deal as well.
