Borussia Monchengladbach made their task of staying in the Top Four a bit more difficult after their 0-1 loss to SC Freiburg on Sunday, Marco Rose's men are tied to 5th placed Bayer Leverkusen on 56 points and now face the daunting prospect of facing a rampant Bayern Munich on Saturday away at the Allianz Arena.

The Freiburg loss was Gladbach's second after the return from the pandemic break. The Foals have registered just 2 wins from their 5 previous games, lost two and drawn one.

On the other hand, Bayern Munich find themselves not very far away from the Bundesliga title. With 70 points, 7 clear of second-placed Borussia Dortmund, the reigning champions need just two more wins from their remaining four games to get their hands on the trophy.

The Bavarian giants are 14 points ahead of their weekend rivals to whom they had lost in December at the Borussia Park. Since then, Bayern have come out with a vengeance, winning 15 of the 16 games to follow.

For the visitors to the Allianz arena, a good news is that the hosts will be without their two top forwards – Robert Lewandowski (Bundesliga's top scorer for 2019-20) and Thomas Muller. Both players face a one-match suspension after having received their fifth yellow cards in the 2-4 win against Leverkusen on Saturday last.

But Bayern won't be too worried, as Hans Flick has ample strength in the benches to make up for the absence of Muller and Lewandowski.

Another thing that the visitors will have worry about is their form in away games – Rose's men have won only 7 of their 15 fixtures on the road and lost five while their hosts have been equally impressive at the Allianz Arena and in away venues, winning eleven games in each.

Much as the great form Bayern are in currently, they will be very circumspect with a team against whom they have a chequered history. Gladbach have proved to be one of the most difficult opponents for Bayern Munich over the years.
