Chelsea begin their European campaign by hosting Europa League winners Sevilla for a UEFA Champions League (UCL) Group E clash at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night.

Both teams will be striving to make an impact in a Group that has sides like Krasnodar from Russia and French team Rennes in it. The Blues who crashed out in the Round of 16 to Bayern Munich 1-7 on aggregate last time are in the current edition of the UCL by virtue of finishing in to the Top Four of the English Premier League.

After having started their La Liga season with two wins and a commendable 1-1 draw away at Nou Camp against Barcelona, Sevilla succumbed to their first defeat of the season losing 0-1 to Granada on Saturday.

Chelsea's five Premier league outings so far have produced just two wins and a disappointing 3-3 draw at home against an unfancied Southampton – something that will not give them much confidence going into the October 11 clash.

Frank Lampard will still be without the services of Edouard Mendy, which means Kepa Arrizabalaga will keep his spot between the posts despite his dismal showing of late.

But Lampard may suddenly choose to go with the aging Willy Caballero instead. Ajax-import Hakim Ziyech and the mercurial Christian Pulisic have recovered enough to make a play for a spot on Tuesday, giving Lampard plenty of options in the attack.

Mason Mount and Mateo Kovacic could come in while N'Golo Kante could be rested.

Thiago Silva was rested against Southampton but should return for the Stamford Bridge clash, while Reece James could be expected to be given the nod in the right-back space ahead of Cesar Azpilicueta.

As for Sevilla, key centre-back Jules Kounde is ruled out having tested positive.

Julen Lopetegui will make changes from the side that started against Granada on Saturday, with Luuk de Jong and Lucas Ocampos both expected to return in attacking roles.

Marcos Acuna should also start at left-back in place of the absent Kounde while Karim Rekik could make his debut alongside Diego Carlos.

Chelsea possible starting lineup:

Kepa; James, Silva, Zouma, Chilwell; Kovacic, Jorginho; Mount, Havertz, Pulisic; Werner

Sevilla possible starting lineup:

Bounou; Navas, Rekik, Carlos, Acuna; Rakitic, Fernando, Jordan; Ocampos, De Jong, Suso

Chelsea v Sevilla Predictions & betting Odds

All bet365 odds quoted are subject to change and were correct as of 19/10/2020.

The Chelsea attack are looking more menacing with both their Bundesliga acquisitions Timo Werner and Kai Havertz hitting form in recent outings but their defense will remain a worry, having leaked goals in almost every game this season and the last one.

Mendy's absence at the goal will be another setback. With both sides desperate to make impressive starts, a 2-2 draw at 12/1 with Bet365 looks to be on the cards.

UK online bookmakers are giving Chelsea a slight edge given that they are returning to near full strength.
