Chelsea vs Bournemouth Betting Odds Preview – 14/12/2019 Updated for July 2025

Updated: 16th July 2025
English Premier League 2019-20 season preview: Chelsea vs Bournemouth – Stamford Bridge – Saturday, December 14, 2019 – 15:00 hrs BST.
Having qualified for the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 stage, courtesy a 2-1 win over visiting Lille at Stamford Bridge, Frank Lampard's men get ready for some Premier League action when they host Bournemouth on Saturday.
Both teams have been out of form of late with the Blues losing 3 of their last 4 Premier League (EPL) outings and their weekend rivals faring even worse.
Bournemouth Player Form
Coach Eddie Howe's Bournemouth are through a 5-game losing streak and are just three places away from relegation being placed at the 15th spot presently.
To make matters worse the Cherries will without some of their key players like Nathan Ake, Callum Wilson and Steve Cook.
Howe will be looking to young Welsh winger Harry Wilson to get him goals against a somewhat suspect Chelsea defense that has let in goals in 13 of their 16 EPL outings so far this season. (Wilson already has 6 goals from the 18 goals Bournemouth has scored so far in the tournament).
Chelsea Player Form
Lampard has enough squad players to ensure they come up winners in this one, with Jorginho likely to start in midfield after being rested at Goodison Park, while Fikayo Tomori might return to central defence after Andreas Christensen and Kurt Zouma were both culpable against Everton.
Tammy Abraham is likely to have plenty of opportunities against a visitors' defence that’s missing someone like Ake. Callum Hudson-Odoi in his current form can be expected to trouble the opposition defence no end.
Chelsea vs Bournemouth Stats
Chelsea have a 5-point cushion over 5th placed Manchester United and 6th placed Wolves and Saturday’s match looks like 3 easy points for the host against a side who are struggling big time at the moment.
The Cherries history with Chelsea in the past couple of years has been mixed. Off the 5 encounters between these two since January 2017, Bournemouth have won 2 and lost 3.
But their wins were whopping with score lines of 3-0 and 4-0, the latter one being as recent as January 2019.
So, one can expect surprises what with the visitors to Stamford Bridge desperate to achieve a much-needed win.
