Eden Hazard

Updated: 9th December 2024

Everton vs Chelsea Prediction[fcrp_feat_sc sc_id=”6800″] Chelsea star forward Eden Hazard has challenged the Chelsea management to get in more good players to match his ambitions, saying that even though the club performed well below expectations he is happy staying at Stamford Bridge.

The 27-year old Belgian whose contract expires in 2020 was the focus of rumours earlier this year linking him to Real Madrid. Hazard hasn't cared to disguise his admiration for Real boss, Zinedine Zidane, who in turn may train his guns on the electrifying forward before the transfer window closes on August 31 this year.

Hazard says he will happy to compete in the Europa League (a competition Chelsea qualified for by virtue of having being eliminated from the Top Four of the English Premier League), but will consider his decision to stay at Stamford Bridge if he felt the Blues had a side strong enough to mount a challenge for the title.

£300,000 a Week

The Chelsea management have been trying to extend Hazard's contract by offering him a lucrative wage of £300,000 a week. Hazard's already settled in Surrey with his wife of 6 years Natacha Van Honacker indicating he wants to be around for a couple of seasons at least. Despite the Blues below par Premier League season (finishing 5th), the forward has accounted for 15 goals and 6 assists. For Hazard, Chelsea's redeeming moment will come when they play Manchester United in the FA Cup Final on Saturday night and the Belgian wants to give it his all at the Wembley.

No Big Spend for Man City

Meanwhile Pep Guardiola has made it amply clear that he won't be spending big this season. The Manchester City owners had pumped in as much as £278m in the acquisition of 9 players in the 2017-18 season. That's paid off big time for the club as they have won the Premier League emphatically, a clear 15 points ahead of their next-best rivals, Manchester United. But Guardiola has gone on record by stating that “we cannot go on spending £300m every season” and will probably go for just one or two new players.

Man Utd set on Alderweireld aquisition

News from Old Trafford is that United are confident of signing in 29-year old central defender Toby Alderweireld from Tottenham Hotspur and that a deal worth £40m is alreadyin the works. If Alderwield does leave Spurs, the club will use the sale money to acquire Matthijs de Ligt, a 18-year-old defender from Ajax. de Ligt has already attained 5 international caps playing for Holland even at such a tender age. Davinson Sanchez, the Spurs' defender has signed a new contract that will see him staying with the North London club till 2024.

Big Sam out Silva in

Everton boss, Sam Allardyce, got the sack despite leading the club to a not-so-bad eighth position in the Premier League. Ex-Watford manager, Marco Silva, is reportedly moving in to fill Allardyce's shoes at Goodison Park.

Conte's fate hangs in the outcome of FA Cup Final

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte's fate could go the Allardyce way at the Stamford Bridge depending on the outcome of Saturday's FA Cup final clash.
