FA Cup Chelsea vs Sheffield United Preview

Thomas Tuchel will look to add to his 13-game unbeaten run across all competitions when he hosts Sheffield United for a FA Cup quarter final tie on Sunday afternoon.

The Blades, while making it to this stage of the competition, have parted company with manager Chris Wilder, with Paul Heckingbottom taking over reins as interim manager. His first game in charge saw his side mauled 5-0 by Leicester but an FA Cup quarter final is expected to provide fresh motivation for his players.

As for team news, Sheffield will be without the ever-dependable Phil Jagielka at the back owing to a family tragedy while on-loan player from Chelsea, Ethan Ampadu, will not be able to face his parent club on Sunday. As a result, Heckingbottom may have to move Enda Stevens or George Baldock inside to center-back if he persists with a back three formation.

As for Chelsea, Thiago Silva and Tammy Abraham will not be returning for Chelsea until after the international break. Jorginho and Mason Mount who both missed their midweek win over Atletico Madrid through suspensions, will likely start at Stamford Bridge.

Andreas Christensen looks doubtful through illness but is likely to be tested for fitness before the game. Christian Pulisic, Olivier Giroud and Kepa Arrizabalaga should get rare starts for Chelsea on Sunday.

Chelsea starting Xi in a 3-4-2-1 formation: Arrizabalaga (goal); Zouma, Chrsitensen, Azpillicueta; Chillwell, Kovacic, Jorginho, Hudson-Odoi; Mount, Pulisic; Giroud

Sheffield starting Xi in a 3-5-2 formation: Ramsdale (goal); Basham, Bryan, Stevens; Bogle, Lundstram, Norwood, Osborn, Lowe; McGoldrick, Brewster

FA Cup Chelsea vs Sheffield United who will Win?

Chelsea will be high on confidence after eliminating Atletico Madrid 3-0 on aggregate from the Champions League in midweek. The London side has kept 11 clean sheets under the German coach from their past 13 outings in all competitions.

Interestingly, one of the only two times they conceded a goal was to Sheffield in a 2-1 win in early February but that was from an own goal by Antonio Rudiger.

Chelsea with a home advantage will prove just too strong for Heckingbottom Blades and look certain of a semi-final berth.[/su_panel]
