Everton vs Manchester City Preview

After having seen off Birmingham City, Cheltenham Town and Swansea, Everton will be the first Premier League side Pep Guardiola's Man City will face in the FA Cup this season as they brace themselves for a showdown with Carlo Ancelotti's Toffees at the Goodison Park on Saturday.

Everton were involved in one of the all-time great FA Cup games in the last round, beating Tottenham Hotspur 5-4 in extra time with a 97th minute goal coming from Bernard.

A cause for worry for Ancelotti will be Everton's below par performances at home.

Struggling outfits like Fulham and Burnley have beaten the Toffees at home lately and Ancelotti seems to have a problem getting his players to create goalscoring opportunities in their own backyard as evinced from the only four goals they managed to get from their last seven League outings at Goodison Park.

Everton probable starting XI in a 4-3-1-2 formation: Olsen (goal); Digne, Keane, Mina, Godfrey; Goes, Allan, Davies; Sigurdsson; Richarlison, Calvert-Lewin

Manchester City probable starting XI in a 4-3-3 formation: Steffen (goal); Walker, Garcia, Laporte, Mendy; Silva, Rodrigo, Gundogan; Mahrez, Aguero, Jesus.

Guardiola's City have only lost one game recently, that was a 2-0 home defeat to Manchester United, but other than that they have looked impeccable. The Citizens have scored 10 goals in their last three wins across all competitions, and it is hard to see Everton stopping them from reaching the next stage.

City emerged 3-1 winners when they made the trip to Goodison Park for a Premier League clash last month. Everton gave a good account of themselves for the most part of that match but ultimately found City's relentless attacks too hot to handle.

For Everton, James Rodriguez, Jordan Pickford, Fabian Delph, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Jean-Philippe Gbamin will miss the quarter-final owing to various injuries, but Ancelotti will welcome back goalkeeper Robin Olsen in time to step in for the indisposed Pickford.

Man City appear to have a clean bill of health with no suspended or injured players ahead of their Merseyside trip, following their 2-0 midweek victory in the Champions League over Borussia Monchengladbach.

Everton vs Manchester City who will Win?

Pep Guardiola will be aware that every game will be huge in their quest for a quadruple this season and this could be in for a testing time at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon.

But the Toffees’ dismal record at home should make things much easier for a very in-form visiting City side on March 20th.
