English Premier League 2019-20 season: Leicester City v Liverpool betting Preview – King Power Stadium – Thursday, 26th December 2019 – 20:00 hrs

Leicester City's quest for the Premier League title hit a road bump at the Etihad where they were humbled 1-3 by a dominant Manchester City.

Despite the outcome, the Foxes still remain close contenders to Liverpool to whom they are 10 points adrift and one point ahead of Manchester City below them. Brendan Rodger's Foxes will look to narrow the gap with Liverpool when they host the latter at the King Power stadium on the December 26th, Boxing Day.

Liverpool are on a high after having returned from Qatar with the World Club Cup title and they have to thank the somewhat out-of-form Roberto Firmino for his 99th minute winner for it.

The Brazilian had gone nearly the entire year without scoring in back-to-back games, but his quality cannot be overlooked.

Mohammed Salah may be returning to his best as he showed via his incredible goal against Salzburg. Sadio Mane is playing the best football of his life while captain Jordan Henderson's excellence in the midfield has been pivotal to Liverpool's success this season.

Barring a freakish 0-5 defeat to Aston Villa a week ago in the EFL Cup, Jurgen Klopp's men have not lost any game on English soil this season.

So, Leicester will have to be at their best to beat the current league leaders. Fitness has been an issue for the Reds with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain set to miss out along with fellow midfielder Fabinho and defenders Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip missing out, too.

Gini Wijnaldum is back training and might be introduced at some stage of Wednesday night's clash.

Leicester’s form has been exceptional in the opening half of this campaign. They have lost just three games in the top-flight space this season – all of them coming away from home to Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool.

The King Power Stadium has been something of a fortress, with the Foxes registering just one loss in the 15 games at the venue since Rodgers’ appointment.

As for the 2019-20 Premier league season so far, they have earned 23 of their 38 points at the home venue alone.

Incidentally, Jamie Vardy is someone who loves playing against Liverpool. The English striker has scored some very vital goals against them before and has emerged as the top Premier League top scorer with 17 goals so far in the current season.

He will have very talented folks like Harvey Barnes, James Maddison, Ayoze Perez and Youri Tielemans to lend him company in the attack. Moreover, they have individuals like Demari Gray, Kelichi Iheanacho and Marc Albrighton to fall on in the benches.

Brendan Rodgers has basically no injury issues as such, thus a full side to pick from here.

Leicester City likely XI in a 4-5-1 formation: Schmeichel (goal); Pereira, Evans, Soyuncu, Chilwell; Perez, Tielemans, Ndidi, Maddison, Barnes; Vardy.

Liverpool Predicted Starting XI in a 4-3-3 formation: Alisson (goal); Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, van Dijk, Robertson; Keita, Henderson, Milner; Salah, Mane, Firmino

Jurgen Klopp's Reds have been incredible on the road and have won 7 of their 8 away games and drawing one. Losing the one of Boxing Day does not look a possibility, but even a win could be difficult given the hosts strength at the King Power.

Leicester desperately need to come back to winning ways after their 1-1 to Norwich City and loss to Man City in consecutive outings and Liverpool need to defend their lead.

Both of these sides are undeniably talented going forward, with Leicester harbouring EPL's top scorer in Jamie Vardy and Liverpool possessing the best front three in world football.

The hosts have scored in each of their last 8 Premier League home games, while Liverpool haven’t failed to score on the road since March.

Thus a 1-1 draw would look a good result from this potentially absorbing fixture.
