Liverpool Transfer Rumors: Mohamed Salah being touted for £180 Million Updated for January 2025
Updated: 22nd January 2025
The most outrageous of all rumors emanating from Anfield is that Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Manchester United are in pursuit of top Premier League scorer and Reds icon Mohamed Salah and the amount doing the rounds is a staggering £180 million. But then, there are no limits to the how far rumors can go and right now there's no such scare to Liverpool or its devout fans.
There are reports of AC Milan evincing interest in Liverpool center back, Dejan Lovren, according to Sky Italy. However, manager Klopp would only consider letting the Croatian defender leave if they receive an offer of at least £25m from the Serie A club.
Confirmed exits from the Merseyside club are Daniel Sturridge who is set to leave Anfield when his contract expires and so will Alberto Moreno who will be released this summer. But Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who has just come out of a prolonged injury spell is on the verge of signing a 12-month extension.
Bruno Fernandes, the Sporting CP and Portuguese forward who was the target of a £70 million Manchester United bid till a few days ago, has expressly stated that he would like to be associated with a club that could win titles. Which is why Liverpool are now looking to swoop in for the 24-year old attacking mid-fielder.
Liverpool have, in the meanwhile, backed out from bidding for the £60 million Lille winger Nicolas Pepe in the face of stiff demands from the likes of Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United and have shifted their gaze to Ajax mid-fielder Donny van de Beek, who could well cost the Reds £49 million.
Liverpool had opened talks with the Werder Bremen striker, Max Kruse, who is out of contract this summer and also pursued Lyon striker Moussa Dembele but Divock Origi's brilliant end-of-season form have caused the management at Anfield to abandon both these pursuits. Origi has been offered a new deal by Liverpool and the Reds are confident he will commit long term.
Timo Werner, key RB Leipzig and German forward is one more player who's attracting a lot of interest at Anfield. Klopp could well go after him in case the 23-year old striker fails to sign a fresh contract with Leipzig this summer. Xherdan Shaqiri has shrugged off any rumors that he could move away from Anfield at the end of the season. The Swiss, who has been an on-and-off figure in Jurgen Klopp's starting XIs this season, said he would rather be staying with the European champions.
Adrien Rabiot, the out-of-contract Paris Saint Germain midfielder is set to turn down a move to Manchester United to sign a £170,000-a-week deal at Anfield. Nabil Fekir, whose bid to join Liverpool broke down last summer as Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas did not allow the French international to leave, could once again be the subject of interest at Anfield. Last but not the least is Sadio Mane, part of the formidable Liverpool attack trio, has thwarted overtures from the likes of Real Madrid, saying that he is content staying where he is for quite some time at least.
