Liverpool v Chelsea Preview

Chelsea travel to Anfield for a Premier League clash with Liverpool, aiming to win the encounter at all costs and move four points clear of Leicester and Manchester United on the table.

Frank Lampard's Blues who are presently on the 3rd place with 63 points have a bitter rivalry with the reigning champions, so much so that Jurgen Klopp will be keen to put a dent into Chelsea’s Champions League qualification hopes.

Liverpool are unbeaten at Anfield in the current season but dropped their first points at home when they drew 0-0 with Burnley. Their mediocre form continued last week with a 1-2 loss to Arsenal at the Emirates.

Liverpool's Premier League form since the return from the break: W-L-W-W-D-L.

As for team news, James Milner is expected to be back in contention for Wednesday night's clash after recovering from a hamstring injury while Jordan Henderson and Joel Matip are still sidelined.

Naby Keita could be pushing for a recall into the starting XI that lost to Arsenal.

Form wise, Lampard's men will be on a high after the 3-0 drubbing of Manchester United in the FA Cup semi-final last weekend and facing a Liverpool side with nothing left to prove, the Blues could certainly fancy their chances at Anfield.

The team news for the Blues is that they will be without N'Golo Kante due to a hamstring injury while Billy Gilmour could be sidelined by a knee problem.

Lampard will probably field the same side that beat United on Sunday with the exception of Willy Caballero who will be replaced by the side's regular goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

But the Chelsea coach will be a bit about worried about Arrizabalaga, keeping in mind the fact that the Spaniard has let in a huge 42 goals this season which is next only to Dmitri Kharine's count of 48 in 1993-94.

Chelsea Premier League form post the break: W-L-W-W-L-W.

Chelsea have won just once on their previous seven trips to Anfield but never have they looked more confident of bettering this record than in their present form.

Liverpool v Chelsea Best Bet

The best bet is to back a 1-1 draw at odds of 7/1.

Four of last nine games between these two have ended with a scoreline of 1-1 at the end of the 90 minutes.

It very well could happen again. But the champions would be keen to avoid another defeat and sour things before lifting the trophy which is why the UK bookmakers are tilted slightly towards the hosts for July 22nd's clash.

Liverpool's predicted starting lineup:

Alisson (goal); Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Keita, Fabinho, Wijnaldum; Salah, Firmino, Mane

Chelsea's predicted starting lineup:

Kepa (goal); Azpilicueta, Zouma, Rudiger; James, Jorginho, Kovacic, Alonso; Willian, Giroud, Pulisic
