Manchester United's fantastic start to the 2017-18 season (their best in recent memory) could be attributed to the fact that they haven't faced really top-class opposition in the seven games they have played so far.

Coach Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool will hand United their first really strong test when they visit Anfield.  Liverpool v Manchester United will be a crucial Premier League clash on October 14th.

Liverpool's journey in the Premier League so far (7th place on the Table with 12 points) has been peppered with outstanding performances. they have had some very pedestrian ones, too. Shocking draws played out with Watford and Burnley. Plus a 0-5 mauling by Manchester City have cost them points and places on the table.

Devils Defence to be Tested

A Manchester United defense that hasn't been really tested so far, may come under great pressure from the likes of the brilliant Phillipe Coutinho, Firmino, Sadio Mane and the live-wire Roma import, Mohamad Salah (already the team's top scorer this season).

The Reds attack could be a little below their 100 per cent best with a weary Coutinho and Firmino returning from a long flight from Sao Paolo where their country, Brazil, will be playing Chile in a WC 2018 qualifying game on Wednesday.

Mane to Return

The good news for Liverpool fans will be the return of their speedy Senagalese winger Sadio Mane from a three-match red card suspension. With the experienced Nathaniel Clyne still out with a long-term back injury, Liverpool's problems in the defense will persist. It will be open to exploitation. Players like RomeluLukaku, Marcus Rashford, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Juan Mata are sure to exploit this.

Lukaku to continue Strike Rate

Manchester United lead scorer, Lukaku, (7 goals from 7 games) survived a injury scare after being ruled out for his country, Belgium's WC 2018 qualifier clash against Bosnia & Herzegovina. As it turns out, the knee injury was minor and he should be fit for the Anfield clash.

An important absence in the mid-field could be that of Marounne Felliani. The Belgian had to limp out in the 23rd minute with a knee-injury in the Bosnia & Herzegovina clash. His abilities in the air and spotting goal-scoring opportunies would be sorely missed at Anfield.

The defense even without the injured Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones is looking good. The quartet of Eric Bailly, Smalling, Lindelof and Ashley Young were pretty efficient in the inspiring away 1-4 win over CSKA Moscow.

Liverpool, on the other hand will have the advantage of playing at home. They are more battle-honed than Manchester United as far as the Premier League goes. However United's two big UEFA Champions League wins will give them a lot of confidence going into Saturday's clash.

Given that all three previous encounters between these two had ended in draws, one could expect a similar result at Anfield on October 14th. A thrilling encounter between two attack-oriented teams lies in store with goals galore. It could be anybody's game.
