Manchester City v Leicester City EPL Preview
Leicester seem to have put aside memories of a terrible post-pandemic show last season that saw them drop out of the Top Four and miss out on the 2020-21 Champions League.
The Foxes have begun the current edition of the Premier League in sizzling form, winning both of their opening games to go top of the table.
Last season’s golden boot winner, Jamie Vardy, started where he left off, scoring twice in the Foxes 4-2 win over Burnley last weekend. Leicester have scored 7 goals from their 2 Premier League outings so far.
On the other hand, Pep Guardiola's Manchester City shrugging off the disappointment of a quarter-final Champions League exit against Lyon, put their best foot forward in the EPL while dispatching off one of their bogey teams from last season as they beat Wolves 3-1 at the Molineux stadium.
To see a team that picked 6 points against City last season put to the sword in a manner they were at their own backyard, the Molineux, sends a signal for the rest of the season that Guardiola's outfit mean business.
The Citizens have followed up their Wolverhampton win with a 2-1 EFL Carabao Cup victory over Bournemouth that saw them progressing to the fourth round of the tournament.
Leicester's third round ouster from the EFL Cup to Arsenal will on the other hand come as a bit of a dampener going into Sunday's game at the Etihad.
For City, Kevin De Bruyne, the UEFA Player of the Year, will be the fulcrum of all of City's moves and he will be supported upfront with talents of the likes of youngsters Phil Foden, Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling.
For Brendan Rodger's the return of James Maddison after a prolonged injury hiatus to the Leicester attack will be a big relief and the coach could introduce him at some stage of the game if not the start.
With both teams replete with attacking riches, one can expect an attacking fest at the Etihad with 2.5 goals at least looking possible.
But Manchester City have beaten Leicester at home for the last four Premier League seasons and are expected to continue that trend on Sunday.
