A paragon of consistency over the past two seasons, Pep Guardiola's men have failed to win in 10 of the 28 Premier League fixtures they have played in this season.
Compare this to the only 12 times they couldn't register wins out of the 76 games in the previous two.
In what was once considered a ‘fortress' for the Citizens, Etihad stadium saw the formidable hosts lose to Wolverhampton and Manchester United and draw with Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur.
Before the season came to a halt in March, City had lost 0-2 at the Old Trafford to a much -improved Manchester United side.
Guardiola's men however enjoy a 12-point cushion over 5th placed United and it's highly unlikely that they will be displaced from the top four of the Premier League table.
However, the Citizens will be keen to return to their winning ways when they host Arsenal at the Etihad on Wednesday, June 17th.
Under Mikel Arteta, the Gunners have found much-needed grit and resolve, thus making the visitors a tougher proposition this time around.
The front three of Pierre Aubameyang, Eddie Niketiah and Nicolas Pepe with Alexandre Lacazzette thrown into the mix, should test a City defence that has appeared shaky throughout the season especially with the absence of the very dependable Aymeric Laporte at the back.
City would be without some of their key players for Wednesday's game – Aymeric Laporte (hamstring injury) is definitely ruled out.
Doubtful are Kevin De Bruyre (shoulder injury), Sergio Aguero (thigh) and Leroy Sane (knee).
Guardiola could be prompted to make some changes just to keep the squad fresh with the likes of Gabriel Jesus, Riyad Mahrez, David Silva, Kyle Walker, Benjamin Mendy and Fernandinho all poised to make a start.
Arteta is beset with an injury crisis, especially in the defence with Calum Chambers, Sead Kolasinac, Cedric Soares and Kierian Tierney sidelined and midfielder Lucas Torreira ruled out as well.
But with still 5 days to go, the Gunner's coach is expecting some from the injured list to recover.
Despite not having lost in any of their 8 Premier League games in 2020 so far, Arsenal are positioned unfavorably on the ninth spot with 36 points, one away from a Europa League berth and 8 points away from the top 4 and a place in the next season's Champions League.
The major worry for Arteta going into the June 17 clash is his side's pitiful record against City.
The Manchester side have won all 6 previous fixtures straight against the Gunners since 2015.
More worryingly, Arsenal have conceded 14 goals from the last 5 games against their forthcoming rivals and managed to score only once.
Looking at the betting odds, one gets the feeling that the UK bookmakers have little faith in the visitors' success. However with both sides coming back from a prolonged break, it's hard to predict how the players will shape up.
