Team News
As for United's team news, Marcus Rashford may have avoided an ankle ligament damage but his appearance at Thursday evening's clash seems in doubt. Luke Shaw who seemed to come off injured against City on a few occasions may not be risked by Solksjaer for the Old Trafford clash.
Mason Greenwood could come into the side for Rashford, while Alex Telles may replace Luke Shaw in the left-back position. Eric Bailly is an option to replace Victor Lindelof in a center-back role. Dean Henderson will continue to man the posts with David de Gea back in Spain to attend the birth of his first child.
Donny van de Beek and Edinson Cavani could miss out and so will Paul Pogba.
For Milan, Ante Rebic and Theo Hernandez who were not fit to be on the bench for the Verona game definitely look doubtful for this one. Thirty-nine-year old Zlatan Ibrahimovic is expected to miss out facing his former club owing to injury. With the superb Mario Mandzukic missing out, too, Milan will seriously find themselves short in the attack department.
Manchester United probable starting XI: Henderson (goal); Telles, Maguire, Bailly, Wan-Bissaka, Fred, McTominay, Daniel James, Bruno Fernandes, Greenwood, Martial.
AC Milan probable starting XI: Donnarumma (goal); Kalulu, Tomori, Romagnoli, Dalot, Melte, Kessie, Saelemaekers, Krunic, Castillejo, Leao.
These two sides have met on five occasions in European competitions (including three times at the semi-final stage) with the Milanese club having won four of those and United just once. But with the likes of Ibrahimovic, Mandzukic and Rebic missing from the Milan attack the odds seem very much in favour of the hosts to take the first leg.
However, the Red Devils will have to be careful not to concede an away goal to the Italians, although given their superlative performance on the road this season, United will not be overly worried.
