Manchester United will be all pumped up going into their Sunday's Premier League clash with Liverpool after their thumping 6-2 win over Roma in a first-leg clash of the Europa League semi-final during midweek.

Twin second half strikes from Bruno Fernandes and Edinson Cavani set the stage for a spectacular fightback after the Red Devils found themselves trailing 1-2 at interval.

Prior to Thursday's emphatic win at Old Trafford, Ole Solksjaer's men had overwhelmed Granada 4-0 on aggregate in the Round of 8 stage.

As far as their Premier League form goes, United have won all 5 of their previous fixtures on the trot with the last one being a 3-1 win over Burnley on April 18th.

Liverpool's recent form has been a far cry from that of their forthcoming opponents, having been ousted by Real Madrid in the quarter-finals of the Champions League and held to 1-1 draws on the domestic front by not very fancied opposition like Leeds United and Newcastle.

Which is why the reigning champions are four places away from Manchester United on the sixth and 13 points clear of the latter with slim hopes of finishing inside the Top Four of the Premier League.

Team News

Despite the Europa League tie against Roma almost wrapped up and United in a commanding second position in the domestic league, Solksjaer may go into the weekend's prestige clash with all his key players from Thursday's Old Trafford win.

Dean Henderson, though, may come in for David de Gea for the goalkeeper's spot while Eric Bailly will hope to make his first start since March.

Given that Liverpool will have to win all their five remaining Premier League fixtures if they want to make it to the Top Four by the end of the season, Klopp will field the strongest possible XI for Sunday's clash with whatever he has at his disposal.

Klopp will try to restore the dependable Fabinho to the back four while Curtis Jones may not recover fully to qualify for a weekend start. Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane will be in all probability given starts upfront with the injury-prone but effective Diogo Jota coming in as substitute at some point of the match.

Firmino and Mane, have really struggled in front of goal for quite some time now but Klopp is unlikely to axe either of them from the starting XI.

Manchester United starting XI in 4-2-3-1 formation: Henderson (goal); Shaw, Maguire, Bailly, Wan-Bisaka; McTominay, Fred; Pogba, Fernandes, Rashford; Greenwood.

Liverpool starting XI in 4-2-3-1 formation: Alisson (goal); Alexander-Arnold, Fabinho, Kabak, Robertson; Thiago, Wijnaldum, Milner; Salah, Firmino, Mane

Klopp's Reds have really struggled for any sort of consistency for a long time now but given their desperate situation and United's complacence from being in strong positions on all fronts, a 1-1 draw cannot be ruled out with the bookmakers leaning slightly towards a Liverpool win as the odds below suggest.

Of the six times these two have met across all competitions since 2018, Liverpool have won twice and their forthcoming opponents just once, the last meeting being a 3-2 FA Cup victory for United in January this year.
