Manchester United host Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford for a Premier League clash on Sunday, October 4.

Despite their back-back victories against Brighton & Hove over two competitions, Ole Solksjaer's men look a disjointed lot, frequently allowing their opponents to cause problems and defending callously.

Some of the in-form players of last season like Bruno Fernandes, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Anthony Martial have been looking pretty ineffective this season and seriously need to get their act together.

Marcus Rashford's is one who has maintained his pace and unpredictability upfront while Nemanja Matic has been a saving grace for a defense that at times seems clueless with the likes of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof performing well below par.

The 7-2 thrashing of Israeli outfit Maccabi Haifa in Thursday night's Europa League play-offs have Tottenham's tails right up going into the Old Trafford clash – not to speak of their progress into the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup after bettering Chelsea on penalties.

Even without injured top-scorer Son Heung-min and the yet-to-recover Real Madrid returnee Gareth Bale, the Spurs attack look strong.

Kane the hat-trick scorer in the win over Haifa will undoubtedly test the United defense with his uncanny sense of finding scoring opportunities.

New signings Matt Doherty from the Wolves and Sergio Reguilon from Real have already given fans glimpses of their abilities and will foil perfectly with Kane while Steven Bergwijn, Giovani Lo Coleso and Tanguy N’dombele have enough in them to trouble the United back line.

While Son pulled a hamstring in the game against Newcastle and is yet to recover, United will be without the injured Axel Tuanzebe & Phil Jones.

Solskaer playing in a 3-5-2 formation will probably field the following team:

David De Gea (goal), Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire, Victor Nilsson-Lindelof, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba, Juan Mata, Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial.

Morinho on the other hand will opt for a 4-2-3-1 formation with the following:

Hugo Lloris (goal), Matt Doherty, Davinson Sánchez, Eric Dier, Ben Davies, Pierre Emil Højbjerg, Harry Winks, Lucas Moura, Giovani Lo Celso, Steven Bergwijn, Harry Kane.

With the prolific Son not around, Spurs may lack the firepower to prevail over the hosts which the bookmakers' odds seem to suggest but there is every likelihood of goals coming on either side.
