Manchester United's Marouane Fellaini's rumoured move to Galatasaray; Chelsea's Nemanja Matic moves to Old Trafford
Marouane Fellaini is supposed to be on the radar of Turkish club Galatasaray. Its director Cenk Ergun has gone up to the extent of claiming it's a done deal. Featuring in as many as 47 matches for Manchester United in 2016-17, which is the highest in his four seasons at the English club, the 29-year old Belgian mid-fielder didn't exactly perform to expectations. However he managed to get crucial goals for his side in the Europa League and EFL Cup. As a result he has established himself as a player for big occasions. He even impressed in United's 3-0 weekend win against Norwegian club, Valerenga, in Oslo.
United manager Jose Mourinho has brushed aside talk about Fellaini's exit stating that he is too important for the side. Galatasary are in pursuit of Villarreal midfielder Alfred N'Diaye. However they will abandon the quest for the Senegalese footballer once they can get their hands on Fellaini.
Meanwhile there are reports of star Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic undergoing medical tests at Manchester United's Carrington training complex on Sunday. The 29-year old Matic had made his intentions to move to Old Trafford very clear 2 months ago.
Eventually in late July the £50 million transfer was sanctioned by Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich himself. Mourinho with an eye to bolstering United's mid-field strength may even feature Matic in the 2nd August friendly with Italian club Sampdoria.
United's attempt to lure away English international Tony Dier from Tottenham Hotspur came a cropper when Mauricio Pochettino strongly turned down offers for the dynamic mid-fielder.
United is also in the process of signing a fresh contract-deal with their pivotal mid-fielder Anders Herrera just to ward off an eager Barcelona's interest in the mid-fielder. Herrera has 12 months left for his contract at Old Trafford, so Mourinho wants to take no chances and block any attempt to wean away his key player in the mid-field by signing a fresh deal.
In the meantime, United's £75 million acquisition from Everton, Romelu Lukaku, seems to have come good with the Belgian striker already having opened his account with a couple of goals, one against Manchester City in the International Champions Cup in USA and other against Valerenga on Sunday.
