It is reported that Arsenal are making a world record bid of £120 million for Monaco and French wunderkid, Kylian Mbappe.

Arsene Wenger was reportedly locked in a 3-hour meeting with the 18-year old after a recent England-France friendly. The Monacoan striker has been under great scrutiny from heavy weights like Real Madrid, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain.

Monaco keen for Mbappe to stay

Mbappe has been instrumental in Monaco's phenomenal rise to become the French League champions. They did this  by dethroning perennial winners, PSG. Monaco also entered the UEFA Champions League semi-finals. But coach Leonardo Jardim is determined to see the teen prodigy stay on at the Stade Louis II. He has been spurning the most obscene offers thrown his way so far.

Mbappe's family have their say

A concerned club president, Dmitry Rybolovlev, has even met with Kylian Mbappe's father, Wilfried Mbappe, to work out a fresh deal at Monaco itself for the young French forward. The family drama continued with the teen's mother, Fayza, expressing a desire to see her son make a move to Real Madrid.

But the huge sum offered by Arsenal seems to have stunned the French club and more so the Mbappe camp. One of whom went on record to say

“Wenger is a great man. If Kylian signs for Arsenal tomorrow, it will be for him”.

Real Madrid's interest

Fellow countryman, Zinedine Zidane is rumoured to be determined to bring the wunderkid to Real Madrid. It remains to be seen if he can match Arsene Wenger's offer. Monaco have already sold off Bernardo Silva and Tiemoue Bakayoko to Manchester City and Chelsea. They did this for a total of close to £70 million. As a result Monaco are  not desperate for additional funds.

Can Wenger Pull it off?

Having just splurged £52m on Lyon-import, Alexandre Lacazette, Wenger will be stretched for funds to make a bid for Mbappe.

He could be eyeing the selling of Kieran Gibbs and Carl Jenkinson to interested suitors in the form of Newcastle.

Mathieu Debuchy and Lucas Perez are on the verge of leaving. Folks like Jack Wilshere and Olivier Giroud are faced with an uncertain future at the Emirates. All of these names could face a decent price.

Lemar, Lacazette, Alexis Sanchez and Mbappe look a possible fantasy attacking quartet that could set the Emirates and the Premier League alight. No wonder, Wenger wants the 18-year old so desperately.
