Sensational Neymar-Bale swap deal on at Bernabeu

Updated: 11th October 2024

While one's been hearing all along about Neymar's impending exit from Paris Saint Germain to his former club, Barcelona, and an almost certain deal being worked out at Camp Nou, few were prepared for Real Madrid to emerge as a serious bidder for the 27-year old Brazilian superstar.

Now a sensational swap deal seems to be in the works at Bernabeu which could see Real outcast Gareth Bale being offloaded to PSG with cash added in exchange for Neymar.

Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane shocked many by bluntly putting across that it would be best for everyone if Bale left the club, prompting the Welsh winger's manager Jonathan Barnett to label the Los Blancos coach a “disgrace'.

PSG are at a point where they could be compelled to sell Neymar, such is his desire to leave the club.

On the other hand, the Parisienne club are one of the few ones capable of taking on board Bale's £600,000-a-week wages.

If the 30-year old Welshman were to possibly arrive at Parc de Princes, it could provide a temporary tactical solution to the French champions wherein coach Thomas Tuchel will be able to deploy Kylian Mbappe in a central-forward position the French teenager so cherishes with Bale marshalling the wings.

Another breaking news doing the rounds is that Bale's Real team-mates believe that the Los Blancos management want to offload him to China.

Beijing Guoan are believed to offer a sum for him that would make the ex-Tottenham star the richest player in Chinese football history.

Guoan are not just willing to match the Real winger's wages of £600,000-a-week at Bernabeu but scale it up to £1 million.

Guaon have a history of spending big. The Chinese club signed Cedric Bakambu from Villarreal for £35 million and pay him £300,000-a-week in wages. Ezequiel Lavezzi who plays for Hebei China Fortune earns £500,000-a-week.

Considering both Bakambu and Lavezzi are relatively lesser known names in world football, it's anybody's guess how much someone like Bale could earn.

The transfer window in China shuts on July 31, meaning Guoan have less than 10 days to try to secure what would be a huge coup by signing Bale and pave the way for a possible entry of Neymar into Madrid.

As for Bale, the Chinese could be a deserving final move for someone who bagged four Champions League title in his six-year tenure at the Bernabeu.

Bale had joined Real in 2013 for a then world record £86 million, making him the most successful British football export of all-time. After Zidane's reappointment late last year, Bale was played for a total of just 90 minutes in three of the remaining 11 matches, was left out completely four times and frequently substituted when he did play. However, Zidane insists that his treatment of the Welsh international “is nothing personal”.

To round off, for all the hullabaloo surrounding the Neymar-Bale deadlock, agent Jonathan Barnet has hinted that “there could be a surprise ending” to the Bale transfer saga.
