News from Old Trafford, Anfield and the Emirates.

Unai Emery
Despite having already signed five players this season, Arsene Wenger's successor, Unai Emery, could bring in one more significant name to the Emirates. Arsenal are ready to pay big money for Kingsley Coman, the FC Bayern Munich winger. This is in keeping with Emery's plan to strengthen the Gunners' flanks. With the 22-year old Coman's future uncertain at Bayern, the move to the North London could become a reality.
The five who have made recent moves to the Arsenal are Juventus right wing-back and Swiss international Stephan Lichtsteiner on a free transfer, Bayer Leverkusen goal-keeper Bernd Leno for £22.5 million, Borussia Dortmund center-back Sokratis Papastathopoulos for £17.6 million, 22-year old Uruguayan defensive midfielder Lucas Torreira for £26.4 million and 19-year old midfielder Matteo Guendouzi from the French club Lorient.
Emery also has in his sights names like Steven N'Zonzi, Adrien Rabiot and the talented 23-year old Juventus midfielder and Uruguayan international Rodrigo Bentancur, on whom the new Arsenal manager is especially interested.
Meanwhile things are hotting up at Anfield with Jurgen Klopp roping in central midfielder Naby Keita for a minimum release clause amount of £48 million from Bundesliga club RB Leipzig. Naby Keita at 23 is also the captain of the Guinea national team.
Brazilian international right-back Fabinho is also in, coming over from French club Monaco. Attempts to lure Real Madrid and Spanish star Marco Asensio have fallen through but Klopp has managed snare Stoke City and Swiss international striker XherdanShaqiri for a very reasonable £13.5 million.
And out at Old Trafford, Jose Mourinho is planning to spend big again. He has already signed Shakhtar Donetsk's Brazilian mid-fielder Fred and 19-year old Porto full-back Diogo Dalot. The most surprising of his signings has been Lee Grant, the 35-year old Stoke City goal-keeper who has featured in just 5 matches in the entire 2017-18 season.
Mourinho is desperate for a player in the central-half position, which is why he has someone like Toby Alderweireld on his radar. The 29-year old Belgian who was so impressive in his nation's superb show at the World Cup in Russia, is keen to leave Tottenham Hotspur given the long periods he had to spend on the benches last season. But with the Spurs management demanding as much as £75 million for the center-back, bookies are wagering on Alderweireld to stay on with the London-based club.
Spurs coach Mauricio Pochettino's preference for Jan Vertonghen and Davinson Sanchez had left the door open for Manchester United to snap up Alderweireld. With the unpredictability being the name of the game in the world of transfers, anything could happen.
