2020-21 UEFA Nations League, Group C preview: Olympiakos vs Manchester City – Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium – Wednesday, 25 November 2020 – 19:45 BST – Matchday 4 of 6

Olympiakos vs Manchester City Preview

Manchester City travel to Greece for a Group C encounter of the Champions' League with Olympiakos at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium on Wednesday.

Olympiacos will go into the November 25th game on the back of a 1-0 win over Panathinaikos on Saturday in a Greek Super League fixture, while Pep Guardiola's Manchester City will be still licking their wounds after a 0-2 loss to Tottenham Hotspur on the same day.

City comfortably beat Olympiacos 3-0 in the first leg earlier this month at the Etihad in Manchester. Goals from Ferran Torres, Gabriel Jesus and full-back Joao Cancelo had sealed the issue for City.

As for team news, Olympiakos manager Pedro Martins has no serious injury issues other than Senegalese centre-back Ousseynou Ba who will be unavailable for Wednesday night's clash.

City will have to do without Dutch centre-back Nathan Ake and midfielder Fernandinho, both out owing to injuries. Left-back Benjamin Mendy also looks doubtful. Raheem Sterling seems to have recovered from his injury spell and is all set to feature in the Greek outing while star strikers Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero's appearances are still in doubt.

Olympiacos probable XI in a 4-3-3 formation:

Jose Sa (goal), Rafinha, Ruben Semedo, Pape Abou Cisse, Jose Holebas, Mady Camara, Yann M'Vila, Andreas Bouchalakis, Lazar Randelovic, Youssef El-Arabi, Mathieu Valbuena

Manchester City probable XI in a 4-3-3 formation:

Ederson Moraes, Joao Cancelo, John Stones, Aymeric Laporte, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Kevin De Bruyne, Ilkay Gundogan, Phil Foden, Riyad Mahrez, Ferran Torres, Raheem Sterling

Olympiacos sit third in their Champions' League group, 3 points behind Manchester City and Porto and will have to bank on players like Jose Holebas, Yann M'Vila and Mathieu Valbuena to get them closer to Table toppers City's 9 points.

Although City's form in the Premier League has fallen far below expectations, they have performed far better in their European outings, winning all their three Group games so far. Even with Aguero and Jesus not around, the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Foden, Torres and Sterling could be a bit too hot for the hosts to handle.

Olympiakos vs Manchester City Verdict

Guardiola's men look set to take 3 points from November 25th's game, but given Olympiacos's desperate situation a draw cannot be ruled out. In two head-to-head encounters between the two sides, the record is even – City having won one and lost one. A City win on Wednesday will certainly book a Round of 16 berth for them
