Roberto Mancini's Italy didn’t have a good outing in the last edition of the UEFA Nations League when they finished 8th but better than forthcoming rivals Poland who finished 10th.

For the Italians, the current edition of the tournament has begun satisactorily with a bit disappointing 1-1 draw against Bosnia & Herzegovina and a very impressive 0-1 win away in Netherlands against the Dutch.

On the other the Poles had near similar results in their opening fixtures in September, losing 0-1 to Netherlands and winning 1-2 away in Bosnia.

Post their below-par performance in the inaugural edition of the Nations Cup last year, the Italians have embarked on a 17-match unbeaten streak, a momentum they hope to maintain when they visit Gdansk for Sunday's Group A1 clash.

The Poles will be hugely boosted by the return of Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski, the 2020 European Footballer of the Year.

The 32-year old striker who has got 61 goals from his 112 outings for Poland will be a potent force in his team's attack against the Italians.

To give company upfront to the goal-hungry Lewandowski will be Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik and Kamil Grosicki and Piotr Zielinski.

The Italians too will be no short of scoring talent with Lorenzo Insigne, Ciro Immobile and Nicolo Zaniolo comprising the frontal trio.

Insigne, Napoli's ace forward, has so far got a goal and assist in 4 outings – a statistic he would like to improve upon. He also has 3 shots on target per game along with 2.8 key passes.

Immobile is an excellent finisher while the dribbling skills of the young Zaniolo could come to the fore in Poland.

The Italian backline is near legendary with names like Leonardo Bonucci, Giorgio Chiellini, Danilo D'Am, rosio and Leonardo Spinazzola dotting the defense.

While a little weak in tackling, Bonuuci is wonderful with crosses and passing with a record of 92.5 per cent success in completing passes, 3.5 clears and 0.5 blocks per game so far.

Juventus defender Chiellini possesses exceptional skills in the air, winning 2.7 aerial duels along with a 91 per cent success rate in passing and clearing 4.7 balls per game.

Kamil Glik will have to shoulder the burden of the Polish defense like he has done for so many years along with 24-year old Jan Bednarek who is very strong in ball interceptions, aerial duels and in tackling.

Bedranek has an astonishing 3.2 aerials per game, 82 per cent pass success rate and 2.2 interceptions in every game during the recent past. Tomasz Kedziora will be the third member in the Polish defense apart from Gilk and Bedranek.

The Italians are not shy of performing in big games as they showed in their away win against Netherlands.

On the other hand, the Poles will feel confident of having someone like Lewandowski in their ranks and pull of a surprise on the visitors to stay alive in the Nations League.

Keeping in view the home advantage of the Poles, the match could well end in a draw with both teams scoring.
