Transfer Rumors and Premier league sackings – Conte stumbles, Arsenal frustrates Dortmund and managerial sackings galore. Updated for February 2025

Updated: 15th February 2025
While coach Antonio Conte has been asserting all along that all transfers were subject to the final approval of the manager, his sudden suggestion to the contrary has left Chelsea fans fuming.
Chelsea to draw a Blank?
Conte has stated that he has no say in matters pertaining to the club's transfers. Fans of the last season's Premier League title-holders are already miffed at their team's semi-final ouster from the EFL Cup and can sense that there won't be any title or Cups coming their way this time around.
This after the Blues having spent almost £200 million in the 2017-18 season so far. But this hasn't stopped Chelsea bosses from scouting for more European talent.
Reports suggest that Roma striker Edin Dzeko and left-back Emerson Palmieri, also from the same club, are on their radar.
Chelsea had already spent a whopping £70 million in acquiring Real Madrid striker, Alvaro Morata, earlier. There are rumors floating around about Real Madrid training their guns on Eden Hazard after having failed to snare Neymar away from Paris Saint Germain, much to the consternation of folks at Stamford Bridge.

Finally, Arsenal have let go their talismanic scorer, Alexis Sanchez, on a £14-million-a-year deal with Manchester United while effecting an exchange that will see Red Devils mid-fielder, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, heading towards the Emirates.
While Jose Mourinho scoffed at Manchester City and Chelsea for suggesting that the Portuguese coach was arm-twisted by Arsenal into a stiff financial deal for Sanchez, he strangely admitted that the Chilean striker took a risk in running down his contract at the Emirates for which there was just six months left.
Meanwhile the Borussia Dortmund management have been frustrated at Arsenal's refusal to meet their demand of £70 million for their star forward, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The Gunners who were originally not willing to fork out more than £58 million could eventually settle for a price of £65 million, for they seem to be seriously interested in the 29-year old Gabonese striker.
Aside from signings, the merry season of Premier League sackings continue.
Marco Silva's sacking as Watford's head coach ends a long list of managerial heads rolling at various clubs in the short span since October- Craig Shakespeare (Leicester City), Frank de Boer (Crystal Palace), Ronald Koeman (Everton), Mark Hughes (Stoke City), Tony Pulis (West Brom), Slaven Bilic (West Ham) and Paul Clement (Swansea City).
