Top Team Goal scorer betting market Updated for December 2024
Updated: 9th December 2024
The World Cup has 32 of the best teams in the world. It also has over 700 of the best players on the planet. Of those 700-plus, the World Cup Golden Boot winner doesn't always go to the best player in the world.
Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic have never won the World Cup Golden Boot. Choosing the top team goal scorer though is a different type of bet.
While choosing the Golden Boot may be a difficult task, selecting the top team goal scorer is a betting market that offers you the chance to pick the top scorer from a specific team. So, which top team goal scorer should you keep your eyes on – and wager on – this summer?.
3 Top Team Goal Scorer Predictions
Our best tips for top team goals scorers. The odds are quoted from Bet365 and were correct as of 02/06/2018.
Antoine Griezmann 6/4 – France
France's Antoine Griezmann is coming off of one of his most successful club football seasons. The Frenchman won the Europa League with Atletico Madrid. He scored 29 goals in 49 matches and goes to the tournament with one of the most talented teams at the World Cup.
France play in Group C and will face off against Australia, Denmark and Peru. The French shouldn't have any difficulty getting through the group. The team should also make it deep into the tournament. Griezmann could have seven matches to score goals, if the French make the final on July 15.
Griezmann was the Euro 2016 Golden Boot winner, so don't be surprise if he is a top team goal scorer.
Romelu Lukaku 2/1 – Belgium
Roberto Martinez's Belgium are a highly talented squad. The team will depend on Romelu Lukaku to score their goals. With creative player Kevin De Bruyne playing behind him, Lukaku will have plenty of chances to score.
Belgium should top Group G, and on paper, their toughest match will come against England on the final day of the group stage. Belgium play Panama to open the World Cup. Panama have never been to a World Cup and the nation is a minnow when it comes to world football. Lukaku could start the tournament with a huge scoring display in his first group stage match.
Neymar 5/4 – Brazil
Brazil's Neymar is coming off of an injury that kept him off the pitch for the final three months of the club season. Before his foot and ankle injury, Neymar was the best player in France's Ligue 1. Neymar and Brazil are the favourites to win the World Cup. The team is full of talent and Neymar has a lot of unfinished business. The forward has a point to prove to all of the naysayers that claim he isn't a big match player.
The Brazilian finished third in goal scoring at the 2014 World Cup. He tallied four goals for Brazil and missed the country's final two matches. Neymar suffered an injury in the quarterfinals and didn't play in Brazil's 7-1 defeat to Germany in the semifinals. He also missed out on Brazil's third-place match loss to the Netherlands.
Neymar has a lot to prove this summer and being the top team goal scorer is the first way to make a statement.
