Watford v Leicester City Preview

Watford run into a high-flying Leicester City in their battle to stay away from relegation when they host the Foxes at Vicarage Road on Saturday, June 20th. The Hornets are in the 17th spot on the EPL table and are a place away from the releagation zone by virtue of a one-goal difference with Bournemouth who are in the 18th.

A stunning 3-0 win over would-be champions Liverpool just before the break in March may have helped coach Nigel Pearson‘s men stay out of relegation. Apart from that they have not been able to register victories in any of their remaining six previous games.

Meanwhile, Brendan Rodgers' Leicester ended a 4-game winless run by beating Aston Villa 4-0 before the enforced break to stay within four points of 2nd-placed Manchester City and five ahead of 4th-placed Chelsea.

Foxes striker Jamie Vardy ended a nine-game goal drought with a brace in the Aston Villa win and took his Premier  League goals tally to 99.

The 33-year English international was recovering from a calf injury during the three-month break and is expected to return for Saturday's clash. Leicester have failed to score in their last two away games in the league but with Vardy back and refreshed, they can once again be an attacking threat.

Watford, on the other hand, have shown a propensity for getting goals of late having scored 12 times in the EPL since the turn of the year and the most number of goals any side have scored against Liverpool this season.

However the win over the Reds was the Hornets' only clean sheet in the past six outings and they will find it very hard to keep out a Leicester attack boasting the third most prolific attack in the Premier League with 58 league goals.

For the hosts, Troy Deeney and Ismaila Sarr with six goals each this season, will be threats going forward.

Although running into a beleaguered side like Watford, the visitors will be a bit wary, as defeats to unfancied sides like Norwich City, Southampton and Burnley earlier in the season will be etched at the back of their minds.

To compound the Foxes worries further, will be their poor history at Vicarage Road – their last two visits to the venue had ended in 1-2 defeats.

But being on a high this season, it seems unlikely that there could be an encore of those performances.

Vardy will fancy his chances of getting a goal at least on Saturday having netted in each of his last four meetings with Watford.

Odds for both teams to score – Yes 3/4, No 1/1 (Bet365)

Jamie Vardy to score at any time @ 10/11 (Bet365)

A 2-1 win for Leicester City is the predicted scoreline at odds of 9/1 (Bet365)

But the otherwise dominating Foxes could be a bit rusty after their return from the prolonged break which is why a score line of 2/2 at odds of 14/1 look possible, too. (Bet365)
