6 Nations France v Wales Preview
This match should have been the grand slam decider but England spoiled the party last week with their 23-20 win against France. Of course even though the slam has gone, France can still win the championship but it may come down to points difference. France also has the postponed game against Scotland to play.
No one will deny that Wales have had a certain amount of luck through this competition, what with opposition red cards and tries that should have been disallowed. On the other hand, as they have progressed they have certainly improved their defence and set piece. With the addition of Louis Rees-Zammit on the wing and George North in the centre, they have found a new attacking edge.
Wales have traditionally started slowly in the Six Nations and built momentum as the competition has gone on. This time they have made very few changes and have become a settled team building in confidence. With the experience of veterans like Alun Wyn Jones and Ken Owens and youthful players like Rees- Zammit and Callum Sheedy, they have found a good blend.
After the loss to England, France will be looking to bounce back and keep the championship title race alive. The England game has been rightly labelled as the most entertaining match in the competition so far. Both teams looked to spread the ball at every opportunity and instead of aimless kicking; they employed smart tactical play with the boot.

France scored within 2 minutes of the kick off. Unsurprisingly, Antoine DuPont gathered a chip ahead by Teddy Thomas to score the try. He always seems to be in the right place at the right time. There was more to come from the French. In an obvious training ground move, they scored from first phase. With the use of effective decoy runners, the ball was moved with speed through the hands for Damian Penaud to score in the corner.
It was a piece of French magic.
Come the World Cup in France in 2023, they will be mightily tough to beat. They have a good defence, which goes without saying with Sean Edwards as their coach. Their lineout and scrum are solid too.
6 Nations France v Wales: who will win?
France will stretch Wales like no other team has before in this year’s competition. If the Welsh can overcome them and win in Paris, then they will be crowned as worthy winners. If not, those people who claim that the Wales side have been lucky, will no doubt say I told you so.
I think France will break Welsh hearts and win by at least 8 points.
