Bernardo Silva for Man City; Navas, Zabaleta, Sagna and Caballero leave Etihad. Updated for October 2025

Updated: 26th October 2025

Monaco and Portugal midfielder Bernardo Silva, not surprisingly, is headed for Manchester City after spending 3 seasons at the French club. Silva is one of those Monaco players responsible for the French club's remarkable rise to the top of domestic football and it's ascension in the European scene.
Double Strike at the Confederations Cup in Russia
The Portuguese wonder boy had a fruitful outing at the recently concluded Confederations Cup in Russia. Silva helped his country progress into the semi-finals. The highlight being a double strike against New Zealand.
The Man City management were in for a scare when Silva developed a sprain after his second goal against the Kiwis. However he recovered quickly to play for as many as 83 minutes in the semi-final clash against Chile.
The young Portuguese who is predominantly a right-hand side player is perceived to fit in easily into Pep Guardiola's scheme of things at the Etihad. Silva's ability to cut in from the right is one of the player's features Guardiola seems to be interested in. Silva will fill in the shoes of 31-year old Jesus Navas. He has turned down a new contract at the Etihad. Navas is now headed towards his previous club, Sevilla.
Kyle Walker of interest
Negotiations are also on to wean away Tottenham defender, Kyle Walker, to Etihad. However the Spurs don't want to settle for anything less than £50 million. Guardiola has also released right-sided full-backs Pablo Zabaleta and Bacary Sagna. This is why there's interest in the 27-year old Walker. Zabaleta makes his way to West Ham. Sagna is being sought after by clubs like Newcastle, Crystal Palace and Southampton.
Gael Clichy to Liverpool
City have also evinced interest in left-backs Benjamin Mendy of Monaco and Juventus's Alex Sandro. They will be replacements for the departure of the 31-year old Frenchman Gael Clichy. Clichy who spent six seasons and featured in as many as 141 outings for Manchester City has already signed a two-year contract with Liverpool in the light of Jurgen Klopp's endeavors to beef up his team’s left-back space.
Willy Caballero to Chelsea
35-year Argentine goalkeeper Willy Caballero also exits City. His contract ending on June 30. Caballero is already headed for Chelsea. There he is expected to serve as an able back-up for regular goalie, Thibaut Courtois.
