Man Utd Transfer News – Morata in £70 Million Pay Day as he Moves to Old Trafford Updated for October 2025

Updated: 14th October 2025
The latest Man Utd Transfer news as goalkeeper David de Gea is all set to leave Manchester United for Real Madrid. The Spanish giants in turn will release De Gea's compatriot Alvaro Morata, who is on his way to Old Trafford. The asking price rumoured to be in the range of £60 to £70 million.
This comes on the heels of Zlatan Ibrahimovic being released from Old Trafford and Mourinho will need someone with sharp striking abilities to fill in the breach.
The 24-year old Spanish striker spent just one season at Madrid following his departure from Juventus after the 2015-16 season and has impressed with the Los Blancos getting 20 goals from his 43 appearances.
With De Gea bidding adieu to Old Trafford, a surprise replacement in the form of Joe Hart could well materialize. Manchester City seems to have no issues in releasing the veteran English goalkeeper who was on loan to Italian club, Torino this season.
Mourinho feels that Hart is still dependable and will fill in the posts admirably in place of De Gea. Mourinho's ambitions don't seem to be stopping at Morata, with the Portuguese coach evincing keen interest in Romelu Lukaku, the mercurial Everton striker.
United have also splashed £30 million on Swedish defender Victor Lindelof who featured as a center-back for Portuguese giants, Benfica, for 4 seasons.
Mourinho is also eyeing Ivan Perisic, the attacking Inter-Milan mid-fielder, with the Croatian reciprocating his interest to move to Old Trafford much to the fury of his club management.
Wayne Rooney wants to stay put at United and has said that he will exit only for a rumoured sum of not less than £30 million.
Another Croatian on the United radar is Mateo Kovacic. The 23-year Kovacic is increasingly finding himself on the benches of Real Madrid given the wealth of talent competing for midfield positions at Bernabeu. So a move to the English club could look an attractive possibility for the young Croatian international.
