Favourites for Cheltenham 2023
If you are interested in the latest Cheltenham betting offers, see our other page hereAlongside the market favourites, we’ve taken a look at some of the underpriced runners who could well come through on the day, so there’s food for thought when summing up.
Supreme Novices
Favourite: Facile Vega 5/2
Tip: Marine Nationale 4-1
Marine Nationale’s recent triumph at the Royal Bond, coupled with three previous wins on recent ground puts him on a solid footing for an impressive run in the Supreme Novices. The horse to beat who should, according to some analysts, already be the favourite here.
Champion Hurdle
Favourite: Constitution Hill 7/19
Tip: Constitution Hill 7/19
Hard to look beyond the heavy favourite Constitution Hill in the Champion Hurdle. Regarded as one of the strongest hurdlers in living memory, Constitution Hill is expected to run this easily, beating the otherwise solid State Man at 11/4.
Champion Chase
Favourite: Edwardstone 15/8
Tip: Edwardstone 15/8
A strong run in the Arkle last year would see Edwardstone come good on his promise as the race favourite if repeated in the Champion Chase.
Odds are only expected to shorten on Edwardstone as the race nears, so it’s worthwhile getting in early on what looks to be an assured winner.
Cross Country
Favourite: Delta Work 11/10
Tip: Delta Work 11/10
Difficult to see any others in the field toppling Delta Work here, assuming he’s in good shape for the Cross Country on Day 2.
A deserving favourite who should rightly be expected to come home.
Ryanair Chase
Favourite: Shiskin 8/11
Tip: Blue Lord 4/1
Somewhat inconsistent in his performance in recent runs, Shiskin is probably over-fancied here, and certainly at his current prices.
Blue Lord comes off the back of a 3rd place in last year’s Arkle, and a win at Clonmel Oil, and should be seen as good value at 4/1.
Stayers’ Hurdle
Favourite: Blazing Khal 3/1
Tip: Blazing Khal 3/1
Despite injury worries in recent times, Blazing Khal should be good for the Stayers’ Hurdle on Day 3 at Cheltenham.
Hard to see past him given the other runners. At 3/1 this represents decent value for a favourite who is likely to put in a third successful run at Cheltenham from 3 appearances.
Gold Cup
Favourite: Galopin Des Champs 15/8
Tip: A Plus Tard 8/1 Each Way
- Galopin Des Champs has emerged as the favourite for the Gold Cup but looks vulnerable to challenge based on recent performances.
- A Plus Tard is good value each way and could well come home against the odds if he’s running at his best.
The odds available are as quoted but are of course, subject to change.
It’s also worth comparing odds across other bookies, notably the likes of Betfred, BetGoodwin and Rhino.bet, keeping in mind Best Odds Guaranteed where applicable, for the best prices going on this year’s events.
